Dear Parents,

We have finally returned to a more normal, full week of school. There were no outside distractions of assemblies or visitors.  The class was able to begin two units that we hope to finish up before break.

Look for a study guide in science. There will be a test next Thursday in the area of animal habitats and life cycles. This will kick off the arrival of three different organisms in the classroom. We will have frogs, then crabs then millipedes (more commonly known as worms!). This is a new science kit for our grade level, so hopefully the creatures will survive our observation. At the end of the unit the children will be able to take home any and all of these animals. A parent note with consent and a plastic container will be requested as we get closer to ending this study.

Our final continent in our yearlong journey through the world is Africa. The focus will be reading and writing folktales which explained the reasons for phenomena found in their environment. However, some students in the class requested an additional, optional, at home assignment. The children wanted to pick one of the 53 countries found in this continent and use our computer time plus outside resources to present a report to the class. Please speak with your child about their decision to learn more about a particular country and if this is something your family can help with during the busy spring sport season.

                                                          Sincerely,

                                                                   Mrs. Burriesci
