Dear Parents,
We have had duck eggs in an incubator in our classroom for 7 days now!!! We will watch and journal their growth and change until they hatch! We have been turning the eggs each day and have written in our journals. If you have any books about ducks or chickens hatching or just any books about ducks, please send them in to share with our class. I am trying to read as many as possible. It is very exciting!!
We are also doing a unit on solids, and writing in our science solids journal. If you would please send a small solid of any kind that we can keep here and share its properties, that would be wonderful.
We will start the letter/sound Vv, after finishing the letter/sound Ll. We will continue talking about seeds and plants growing during this season. Our sunflower plants are growing very nicely. We hope to plant them outside our classroom and have beautiful sunflowers in the fall!! We will read, write and do other center activities on this topic. Again, if you have books to share, please send them in. Also, share your knowledge of this topic with your children.
In math we will continue to work with the penny, nickel and dime. It is very difficult for them to understand the concept of money. Please share these coins with them to help them with this concept.
Thanks to those of you who were able to come to our Writers’ Celebration last week! As you can see, the children are doing a wonderful job of reading and writing! Thanks for all your encouragement.
Thanks to Mrs. Perry, our Mystery Reader last week. She had a wonderful book of opposites, and a delicious, nutritious fruit platter to share.
I have attached a new sight word list. Please take some time to work with your child on this list. I will be screening them on it very soon.
As always, thanks for all your help and support.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Mitchell
