A.W.B. Clubs and Activities
Art Club
As a service
club, the Art Club focuses on projects for the community.
Made up of fourth graders, the group makes posters,
participates in art contests and invitationals, such as the
Martin Luther King Jr. Invitational at Siena College, and
enters the Albany Institute's Annual Festival of Trees. The
most involved and rewarding projects involves creating the
centerpieces for the RCS Volunteer Dinner. The group meets
during recess and holds various fundraisers to purchase
materials needed for their projects.

Harry Potter Club
In Harry
Potter Club we like to talk about the characters (Ms. Jean
likes to refer to the positive character traits shown in the
book like compassion and loyalty)
and play games with a Harry Potter theme. There are puzzles and
board games; there are days when we play BINGO and others when
we make our own magic wands, wizard hats or writing quills. All
the books are available for students to borrow, as well as the
books on tape or cd unabridged. All together, it is a club that
makes good use of a popular book series to promote
literacy. More information is available by going to the
following website: http://www2.rcscsd.org/gjean/clubs.htm
Intramurals
This program is open to
all third and fourth grade students. Students meet after
school for two hours and participate in volleyball,
gymnastics and basketball.
Gym Show
Natural
Helpers
is
group of 5th grade students selected by their
peers to serve as a person to approach and/or be appointed
to help in time of need. Natural Helpers are trained on how
to identify and approach students in need of someone to talk
with and in the peer mediation process. Skills such as
listening, respecting different points of view, being
impartial, and how to encourage and support others are
taught. Natural Helpers are trained to refer any serious
problems to the Natural Helper advisor.”

Student
Government
is an activity open to 4th and 5th grade students elected by
their classmates. We meet on Thursday afternoons (after school)
once a month to plan activities and projects for our school
community. Some activities are just for fun, and some are
providing a service. The advisors for this club are
Mrs. Conti and
Ms. Jean. More information can be
found regarding AWB’s student government at the following web
