Frequently Asked Questions About the Pool

Where is the pool?

The pool is at the rear of the RCS High School off Route 9W in Ravena. When visiting the pool, please enter via the glass vestibule at the rear of the school, near the loading dock. The address is 2025 Rt. 9W Ravena, NY 12143.

When is the pool open?

We open as early as 5:30 a.m. and close as late as 10:00 p.m., depending on program needs. From 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., the pool is used for physical education classes, and athletic team practices and meets. After the school's needs are met, there is an opportunity for Continuing Education classes and community use, and also for private rentals.

For a list of pool hours and opportunities, along with a list of Continuing Education classes, please visit the main Aquatics Center site. There is also a printed copy of the pool schedule available on the pool deck at the beginning of each month.

How do I get a pool pass?

Pool passes are available at the Aquatics Center on Tuesdays and Thursdays during the open swim times from 8-9 p.m. You'll need to bring proof of district residency and $30.00 to cover the annual fee. For non-residents, the fee is $125.

How do I register for aquatics classes through the Continuing Education program?

The Continuing Education brochure is available at the main Aquatics Center site. The brochure includes the registration form and information on how to submit the form. For general questions about the Continuing Education program, please call Pat Hommel at 756-5200 ext. 3333. For further details on the aquatics classes, please call Aquatics Director Dave Burns at 756-5200 ext. 2065.

How big is the pool?

Our competition-sized pool is 6 lanes wide and 25 yards long. The water depth runs from 4-12 feet. The pool holds 198,000 gallons of water -- enough water to fill nearly 4,000 bath tubs!

Is the pool handicapped accessible?

Yes. There are stairs with hand rails that can be used to enter and exit the pool. There is also a chair lift to assist all our students and residents into the water.

What is the water temperature?

The water is kept between 80°F and 83°F.
