Frequently asked questions about the pool

Where is the pool located?

The pool is located at the rear of the High School off Route 9W in Ravena.  When visiting the pool, we would like to have you enter the glass vestibule at the rear of the school by the loading dock.

The address is 2025 Rt. 9W Ravena, NY 12143.

When is the pool opened?

We open as early as 5:30 am and close as late as 10:00 pm depending on program needs.  The pool is used as a classroom from 7:00 am to 5:00 pm for Physical education classes and athletic team practice and meets.  After the school's needs are met there is an opportunity for Continuing Education classes, and community used as well as private rentals.

When is the pool opened to the community?

Hours are listed on the website under Aquatics link, and our continuing education classes are also described under Continuing Education link.  There is also a printed copy available on the pool deck at the beginning of each month.

How do I get my pool pass?

On Tuesday and Thursday there is someone available as you enter the facility to use the pool.  Bring proof of residency and the $5.00 yearly fee.

How do I register for Continuing education classes in the pool?

If you go to the Continuing Education link and go to the brochure, there is a registration form which is needed to register.  You can mail this form to Pat Hommel and/or contact her at ext. 3333. For further details on the class feel free to contact the Aquatics Director at ext.2065.

How big is the pool?

We have a 6 lane 25 yard competition pool; water depth starts at 4 feet and goes to 12 feet at its deepest. The pool holds 198,000 gallons of water.

Is the pool handicapped accessible?

There is a set of stairs with hand rails to step into the pool, and there is also a handicapped chair lift to assist all our student and residents into the water.

What is the water temp?

The water temp is kept between 80°F to 83°F.
