Budget advisory committee to
organize, meet
The
RCS Budget Advisory Committee
will conduct its first meeting
on January 14 in the District
Office Building on Thatcher
Street in Selkirk.
Anyone interested in joining the
committee is asked to contact
the RCS District Office at
756-5200, ext. 6003 by 4 p.m. on
January 11. Membership is open
to the public and residents of
all areas of the district are
encouraged to join.
The overall goal of the
committee is to advise on, and
guide in, the creation of a
“sound educational budget at a
responsible financial level.”
The committee will outline a
meeting schedule during its
first few meetings.
The committee will be guided by
Daryl Purinton of Purinton &
Morris, an accounting firm that
is providing financial and
budget assistance to the
district while it searches for a
new business official to lead
the RCS Business Office.
Purinton and Morris officials
will work in conjunction
with the RCS administration in
crafting a 2008-09 spending plan
proposal to put before the Board
of Education this spring.
The Budget Advisory Committee,
said Superintendent Vicki
Wright, will take an active role
in that development process,
meeting with the administrators
and supervisors in charge of the
buildings and grounds,
transportation, aquatics and
technology departments and
making recommendations on the
budget proposal.
