RCS hopes to make a
splash for Poole
Community to rise to the
occasion for ill teacher
The RCS school community is
rising to the occasion for
beloved foreign language teacher
Colin Poole.
The community is invited to
attend a January 18 fundraiser
for the teacher, who is battling
a rare form of cancer called
Burkitt’s lymphoma.
Burkitt
lymphoma is a very fast growing
form of non-Hodgkin's
lymphoma.
The young teacher - he is just
28 years old – was diagnosed
with disease just after the
school year began and is
receiving aggressive treatment
at New York City’s
Sloan Kettering Cancer Center.
Poole, who lives in Colonie,
started in RCS three years ago.
To offset some of the
astronomical costs he has
incurred, RCS faculty, staff and
administrators will take on the
New York State Police in a
basketball game on Friday,
Jan.18.
The evening begins at 6 p.m.
in the High School
gymnasium. The game is
slated to start at 7p.m.The school is located
at 2025 Rt. 9W in Ravena.
Tickets cost $3 for adults, $2
for students. There will also be
a 50/50 raffle and refreshments.
Some of the players suiting up
for RCS will include Middle
School Principal Pam “Dribbles”
Black, Teacher Dr. Neil ”Street
Life’ Howard; Teacher Joe
“Trips” Jaskolka; Teacher Tony
“Too Tall” Lintner; Teacher
Anthony “Sweater Vest” Marturano
and Teacher Kermit “Chicken
