Dear Parents/Guardians:

Welcome to the Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk Central School District!  We are notifying all families of children who may be eligible to enter kindergarten for the 2008-2009 school year.  It is time to register.

Registration will occur on Tuesday, January 15^th 3:00-6:00 p.m. at the Middle School, Wednesday, January 16^tH 3:00-6:00 p.m. at A.W. Becker , and Thursday, January 17^th 3:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m. at P.B. Coeymans.  We will again be having a fun fair night for the very young on Tuesday, January 15^th from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. at the Middle School.  Please bring along your child only on Tuesday, January 15^th.

Mr. Matthew Patterson will handle the registration process.  At this time parents will sign-up for the April/May screening date for your child.  If you have questions, you will have an opportunity to ask them at your child’s screening, as well as at Parent Orientation Night. 

ENTRANCE REQUIREMENTS:

       Your child MUST be five years of age on or before December 1, 2008.  In order to complete registration you must submit:

• Student’s original birth certificate (or a certified copy)

• Student’s Social Security Card

• Student’s immunization record

• 2 proofs of residence (driver’s license or voter registration card AND property tax receipt, rent receipt, or utility bill showing name and address)

• Custody papers (if applicable)

• Individualized Education Plan (if applicable)

 

1. At registration you will select a April screening date for P.B. Coeymans, and an May screening date for A.W. Becker for your child.  

2. The required immunizations must be signed by a physician and returned as soon as possible.  Your child cannot attend the first day of school without the required immunization

3. An evening orientation for parents will be on Wednesday, April 9^th from 6:00 – 7:00 pm at the A.W. Becker Elementary School.  At that time staff will discuss our kindergarten program and we will answer all of your questions.

4.  April/May K Screening  – (April 2^nd , 4^th, 8^th, and 10^th for P.B. Coeymans and May 5^th, 6^th, 7^th, and 8^th for A.W. Becker) An Early Childhood Screening Inventory will be conducted by the teachers, nurse, speech therapist and occupational or physical therapist.  These will be held on an individual basis.  You will sign-up for your screening time when you register your child or call your school to schedule a time.

5. September 3^rd,  4^th, and 5^th   (tentative)  – Each child and parent will have a scheduled time to visit the school to meet with their kindergarten teacher for an individual orientation to kindergarten.  All parents will receive letters in mid-August, once the school calendar has been set.

6. September 8^th (tentative) – Regular full time attendance for kindergarten begins.
