RCS names new treasurer:
District chooses Pizzo from full menu of candidates

The Board of Education on Monday selected Joseph Pizzo as the district’s new treasurer.

Joe Pizzo

Pizzo, of Richmondville, succeeds interim treasurer Nancy Caswell who has filled the post since the September resignation of Michael Strenka.

The new treasurer previously served as deputy budget officer for the town of East Hampton on Long Island, where he analyzed department budget requests and helped to create the town’s annual $68 million budget. Pizzo also managed more than 30 bank accounts, town investments and monthly budget reports. He held that post for 13 years until moving to the Capital District to be closer to his family.

He has a Bachelor of Science degree in finance from Southampton College, which is part of Long Island University.

“Mr. Pizzo is highly qualified for the position and we look forward to a long, productive working relationship with him,” said Superintendent Vicki Wright.

Board and administration representatives interviewed six candidates for the post with the Board of Education interviewing two finalists Monday before making their selection.
