Drug
information
event draws crowd
Approximately 25 to 30 parents and community members
turned out for the first parent information night of the
year on Wednesday.
The drug
information night - a collaboration between RCS and the
new York State Police -
featured State Police Field Sergeant Doug Pauquette
outlining for community members the latest trends in
youth drug use and what warning signs parents can be on
the look-out for.
"It was
excellent, excellent. He was very informative," said
Middle School Co-Principal Elizabeth SantaBarbara.
The sergeant
worked in the field of drug impairment for over twenty
years and presented all over the country. He
currently conducts several DITEP (Drug Impairment
Training for Educational Professionals) around the
Capital Region, which several RCS administrators and
deans attended last year.
Wednesday's
presentation lasted longer than its scheduled hour and
Pauquette stayed even later, answering numerous
questions from community members.
