Students honored for Epilepsy contest artistry
A pair of A.W. Becker Elementary School students were honored
for creating award winning posters for the Epilepsy Foundation
of New York.
Juan Caicedo, who placed third in the contest, and Teller Wood,
who received honorable mention, were presented certificates by
Board of Education President Mike Varney for their artistic
endeavors. The pair had previously been presented awards by the
Epilepsy Foundation.
The students were among 18 from A.W. Becker that entered the
contest last year, competing against students in schools from
across the region to create posters that educate the public
about Epilepsy.
The winners were chosen regardless of their grade level, so our
kids competed against older children
Winning posters were chosen on the accuracy of the information
and the creativity of the piece.
Caicedo and Wood, who are in fifth grade, were selected for
their awards based on the accuracy of the information presented
in the poster and the creativity of the piece.
