Soccer players’ goal a worthy one – curing cancer

Members of the RCS Varsity Girls Soccer Team are shooting for a goal of a different sort this weekend.

The 17 players and Coach Danielle Hummel will take part in the Making Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk Sunday in Albany’s Washington Park.

Team members are collecting pledges and joined together last week in a one-day sale of pink ribbons, which raised more than $400 for the charity event, Hummel said.

“So many times, when sports teams fundraise it is to benefit the team. This time, we decided to fundraise for a good cause,” said Hummel.

The walk starts at 11 a.m.
