There are currently no cases of
MRSA in the RCS school district.
So noted AWB Nurse Patti Lefevre
on Monday as she updated the
RCS Board of Education on the spread
of the bacteria-borne illness.
There had been rumors in
the community of new cases in
RCS, but she said those rumors
are false.
The victim of RCS' lone reported
"non-reportable" MRSA case - a student at Pieter
B. Coeymans Elementary School -
has healed and no new cases have
been reported, said LeFevre, who
was accompanied by all of the
district's nurses.
She also reported that the
district has been in contact
with the Centers for Disease
Control, state Health Department
and district physician Dr.
Philip Drew for updates and
information on MRSA.
During a conference call last
week,
Dr.
Drew assured RCS nurses,
administrators and others that
the district is taking the
appropriate preventive actions
in addressing the bacteria.
