Students launch white paper
recycling effort
Members of the RCS High
School National Honor
Society are going “green” –
launching a white paper
recycling project that is
expected to collect tons of
white paper.
Society members kicked-off
the effort on Thursday –
National Recycling Awareness
Day – and plan to continue
through the remainder of the
school year, said Honor
Society advisor Vicki Jones.
The students placed
approximately 25 collection
bins that they made
throughout the school. They
will collect the paper from
the bins and drive it to a
recycling center in Albany,
which the National Honor
Society has made an
arrangement with.
“This is another excellent
example of our students
seeing a need, addressing it
and helping make the
community a better place,”
said Superintendent Vicki
Wright.
National Honor Society
Co-Advisor Stephanie Branley
said the students have
“really run with the
project” since it was first
discussed. “We (the
advisors) have had nothing
to do with it ever since the
idea was raised.”
