Common questions on the new
"swipe card" system in RCS cafeterias
Why did we institute the new
swipe card policy?
Because it allows for a better
tracking of our food offerings, creates an easier system for
prepayments and provides anonymity to students who receive
free and reduced meals.
How does the new system work?
Every student when making a
purchase in a cafeteria must swipe their student ID or
enter their identification number.
If you have more than one
student, can you write just one check to prepay for the meal
plan?
No. A check for each student
should be made out and the name of the student placed on the
memo line of the check.
Who should the checks be made
out to?
RCS Lunch Fund.
When the account is overdrawn,
will a bill be sent home?
No. The system will identify
when a student is overdrawn and the student will be notified
when they are trying to make a purchase. If the problem
persists for more than a few meals, a notice will be sent
with an application for free and reduced meals.
Will parents receive a
statement on what their child is purchasing?
No, but those statements can be
requested in certain instances by contacting Food Services
Director George Dardani at 756-5200, ext. 2037.
