Students delay start of the break to help region’s hungry

A group of RCS elementary school students will delay the start of their holiday break by several hours in order to help the Capital Region’s hungry.

The students – members of the Pieter B. Coeymans Elementary School Student Government – will spend Friday evening collecting financial donations at Crossgates Mall for the Regional Foodbank of Northeastren New York. The effort is part of the Foodbank’s 23rd Annual Holiday Hunger Appeal.

Student government representatives taking part include:

  • Logan Deyo, president
  • David Warnken, vice president
  • Ryan Morrow, secretary
  • Tom Augustine, treasurer
  • Representatives: Fred Pechette, Chelsea Youmans, Tina Palmer, Carlie Doggette, Maddie Civil, Destiny Wimbush, Jared Porter, and Phillip Duell.

Teachers Tony Lintner and Lee Brown will also be on hand as advisors.
