RCS to host `MySpace’
and ‘Facebook’
information night next
week
In the wake of several
incidences of internet
crimes against area
youth, RCS will conduct
its second information
night on teenage
WebPages, how youths use
places like MySpace and
Facebook and what
dangers those sites pose
to youths and others.
The January 30 event
begins at 6:30 p.m. in
the High School Library
Media Center. The high
school is located at
2025 Rt. 9W in Ravena.
A panel that includes a
representative of the
Department of Criminal
Justice’s Missing and
Exploited Children’s
Clearinghouse will offer
advice to parents on how
to protect their
children and what
technology they can use
to filter the Internet
for their children.
The district conducted
its first internet
safety night last year
and the event drew
dozens of parents and
community residents, as
well as students.
Teenage and youth
WebPages are
increasingly popular and
increasingly contain
information and pictures
which place youths at
risk. At the same time,
teenage websites have
been used by youths to
harass or bully other
students or even school
officials. |
