RCS school
district
homeowners are
encouraged to
apply for tax
savings under
New York State’s
enhanced STAR
program by the
March 1 deadline
In addition to
the Enhanced
STAR, income-eligible
senior citizens
with limited
income may be
eligible for yet
an additional
property tax
savings
thanks to the
district’s
participation in
the Senior with
Limited Income
tax exemption
program.
Those savings
depend on the
property’s
owner’s income.
There is also a
Disabled with
Limited Income
exemption.
The
additional
property tax
reductions are
determined
according to a
sliding scale
and can decrease
a property tax
bill by a
minimum of
5
percent
to a maximum of
50 percent.
All residents who
have not already
applied may also be
eligible for a
School Property Tax
Savings. Anyone who
owns property and
uses it as their
primary residence is
eligible for a Basic
STAR school property
tax exemption. No
age or income
requirement for the
Basic STAR. Once you
apply for the Basic
STAR, there is no
need to reapply.
Applications
are located below
