RCS tightens budget controls
RCS school administrators
are tightening controls on expenses for the remainder of the
school year.
Superintendent Vicki Wright
sent a note to all district personnel at the end of last
week stating that all purchases of
non-essential items would
be halted.
“I am slowing down the
budget immediately. All requests will require district
office review and approval with justifications for those
items that are not obviously relevant to the running of a
program. For example, if an elementary class needs to
purchase duck eggs in order for students to witness and log
the process, there would be no justification needed. If, on
the other hand, there is a file cabinet someone may want to
purchase, then the requestor would have to furnish a
justification for the need at this time,” Superintendent
Wright stated.
No purchase requests will
move forward for purchases without direct authorization of
the superintendent and the purchasing agent, Wright stated.
The move is designed to
ensure the district has a ”reasonable fund balance” at the end
of the year.
“I am confident we have a
good handle on our budget.” Wright said. “We are doing
what every responsible home or business owner does when he
or she wants to stay within a certain level of spending,”
Wright stated.
