RCS’ Muth an 'Educator of the Week'
High School Foreign Language
Teacher Sharon Muth is being highlighted this school year as
a New York State Lottery Educator of the Week.
Muth, who teaches in the
high school, was selected after being nominated by a current
student.
A segment profiling her is e
expected to air in late-March on WNYT Channel 13 during the
5:30 p.m. newscast on the NBC station and again during the 5
a.m. to 7 a.m. Thursday morning newscast.
Anchor and education
reporter Elaine Houston spent an hour with Muth and one of
her classes recently, talking to the educator and several of
her students.
According to the New York
State Lottery, the Educator of the Week program “recognizes
excellence in teaching, encourages creative and quality
instruction and honors those educators who continuously put
the educational and developmental needs of their students
first.”
“This is an excellent
recognition for Sharon,” said Superintendent Vicki Wright.
“It reinforces what we already know about her and the hard
work and the dedication she brings to the classroom each
day.”
“I tell my students each
year that when they choose a career in the future, they
should think about what they love to do because they will
spend a significant part of their life doing it. For me, I
chose teaching! I can’t think of anything else that I would
love to do more,” Muth said.
Grades 11/12 Principal Hakim
Jones said “I can not think of a better person and educator
to receive this recognition.”
