The boys
swim team broke two RCS records and qualified two
swimmers for the state meet during sectional
competition last weekend.
Kevin
Burns qualified for the 500 freestyle and the 100
backstroke after winning both sectional II titles in
those events. Jake VanEtten also qualified for the
100 backstroke competition after finishing second to
Burns in the competition Saturday in Niskayuna.
The
state meet is in two weeks on Long Island.
In
the meantime, the 400 freestyle relay team broke the
RCS record twice, dropping the time from 3:55 to
3:53 during the preliminary competition and dropping
the record to 3:52 during the finals.
Burns
also broke his 500 freestyle record, knocking two
seconds ioff the record and bringing the record time
to at 4:56.
Overall, coach Kyle Kearney reported, the team
finished 8th out of 13 teams.
