RCS not stuck on “postage stamp” sized
lot
While
the District Office building sits on what appears to be a
"postage stamp size" lot at 26 Thatcher Street in Selkirk,
RCS actually owns much more land there.
In a
recent report to fellow board members, Vice President Cindi
Elliott said her research discovered that RCS actually owns
4.2 acres including the land that the town of Bethlehem uses
for tennis courts and access to the town park.
Elliott, who is a professional surveyor, volunteered her
time to survey the property and research the land.
While
the district has no plans to curb the town's use of the
property, it does provide the district with the option of
creating parking spaces on land to the east of the office
building.
In
other news, Elliott - who sits on the district's Buildings
and Grounds Committee with board member John Vadney - said
minor rehabilitation activities may address issues with the
District Office building.
In
December, the committee reported that the building is
structurally okay, but is in need of improvements to address
a variety of issues.
