RCS Middle School students
celebrated the irrational number 3.14 - also
known as Pi - on Friday, March 14.
The 3/14 celebration of
3.14 saw teams of students challenged to come up with
the
longest
chain of the pi digits, said math teacher Amanda Latter.
According to math experts,
Pi - by definition - is the ratio of the
circumference of a circle to its diameter. Pi is always the
same number, no matter which circle you use to compute it.
the number dates to the time of the Babylonians.
Students took part
during their math classes throughout the day, Latter said.
