Tolerance wall takes shape at RCS
The
beginning of RCS’ Tolerance Wall is taking shape with the
placement of the first tiles on the wall near the RCS High
School cafeteria.
The
tiles, which feature the designs of RCS students, faculty,
staff and community members, start off as artwork and then a
firm transfers the design to tiles, which students affix to
the Tolerance Wall.
The
tiles depict the theme of tolerance, diversity and
acceptance.
The
Tolerance Wall is the idea of students in Rita Owen’s
classes.
Everyone
is encouraged to submit a tile design that fits the theme.
Everyone
in the community is encouraged to submit a design or artwork
(no bigger than 11” by 11”) along with a $10 fee in the form
of a check made out to RCS High School. Artists may sign or
initial their Owens said. Mail the package to Owens at 2025
Rt. 9W in Ravena.
Of the
$10 fee collected for each tile, $8 will cover costs and $2
will be used to bring a guest speaker to Foley’s class next
fall to talk about tolerance.
