Pieter B. Coeymans to celebrate reading
Students will
celebrate literacy and reading on Monday at Pieter
B. Coeymans Elementary School in Ravena.
The school will
conduct a Read Across America Assembly during which
students will sing reading-themed songs and learn
who read the most books, as well as who won a
literacy related Dr. Seuss poster contest.
One student from each class will also win a book
donated by the school’s Parent Teacher Organization
(PTO) and a student will also win passes to see the
new Dr. Seuss movie
Horton Hears a Who.
Starting with a pajama
day on March 3 on which students, faculty and staff
wore nightwear to school, the approximately 500
students in Pieter B. Coeymans Elementary School
have celebrated reading throughout this month and
taken part in a challenge to read each evening.
Monday’s assembly will
begin at 9:45 a.m. for students in Pre-K through
second grade; students in grades 3-5 will gather at
2:15 p.m.
