An A.W.B.
fifth grade musician achieved a perfect score Friday
during a state solo competition.
Anthony
McElligott, a trumpet player,
earned a perfect 28 out of 28 score during the New
York State School Music Association solo competition
in Burnt Hills, music teacher Scott Andrews
reported.
"It was an
outstanding performance," Andrews said.
McElligott
played
“Russian Hymn” by Tchaikovsky, arranged by Major
Herman Vincent, for the NYSSMA judges. Additionally,
he played three selected scales and played by sight
music he has never seen before, music teacher Bill Hoeprich said.
He was the first 5th
grade student from RCS in several years to compete in a NYSSMA competition.
