A representative of the
state Farm Bureau read to RCS students on Tuesday
as the school celebrated Agriculture Day.
Patty Dugan, deputy
director of members relations for the New York State
Farm Bureau, read the book Sugarbush Spring, to
second grade students at Pieter B. Coeymans Elementary
School.
Sugarbush
Spring, by Marsha Wilson Chall, tells the tale of a
young girl who learns about sugar maple trees when she
accompanies her grandfather on his annual trip to gather
sap to make delicious syrup.
After
reading to each class, Dugan
provided samples of maple syrup and talked about the
process of making the syrup.
She also presented a copy
of the book to Principal
Elisabeth Smith.
