Secret Service Agent
William Leege points to a flaw on a counterfeit bill
on Monday. |
Agent William Leege – who is based
in the Albany office of the U.S. Secret Service – met with
students in Scott Holdren's Forensic Science’s class to discuss
counterfeiting and how the Secret Service tracks down
counterfeiters.
The students peppered the agent
with questions and examined the "funny money" with an eye for
detail that located the faulty watermarks, erroneously placed
red threads and other keys to identifying counterfeit cash .
It is the first time a Secret
Service agent has visited the class, Holdren said.
The wildly popular Forensic
Science’s Class teaches students fingerprinting techniques, how
to analyze hair and fiber evidence and other crime solving
techniques. It also discusses how the Secret Service solves
counterfeiting, Holdren said.
