Budget hearing slated for May 12

The Board of Education will conduct on May 12 a public hearing on the proposed $41.9 million 2008-09 school year budget.

The hearing will begin at 7 p.m. in the high school library media center.

The district-wide budget vote and election of school board members will take place May 20, 7 a.m. until 9 p.m. in the high school.

The proposed budget would increase spending by 2.17 percent and the tax levies by 2.64 percent; which of which represent the lowest increase in the past give years. Projected tentative tax rates would increase between 1.91 percent and 2.31 percent.
