Students will join faculty
and staff, as well as community volunteers, in cleaning
up the A.W Becker Elementary School habitat later this
month.
A.W.B officials will conduct
a “Schoolyard Spruce Up Day” on May 22. Throughout the
school day, classes will join faculty, staff and
volunteers in performing "eco-friendly" chores, such as:
-
Placing wood chips on
the nature trail
-
Weeding and mulching the
three garden areas, as well as around the pavilion
-
Raking branches from
pruning of trees and bushes
-
Putting up new bird
houses
-
Creating “markers” for
identifying trees, plants, etc. on the Nature Trail
-
Planting
Forsythia Plants
Parents are also being
encouraged to volunteer and take part in the day, said
organizer, teacher Jamie Guntert.
