Students, faculty and staff will celebrate
nature and the environment during a day-long
event on May 29 featuring 18 learning stations
that focus on everything from owl pellets to the
geometry of spiders and woodland instruments.
The Pieter B. Coeymans campus has been
designated by the National Wildlife Federation
as a National School Wildlife Habitat and
students work with
faculty and staff throughout the year to
maintain that designation.
During the May 29 event, students will visit
educational; stations on the environment, eat a
bird nest for lunch (spaghetti with meatballs),
and take part in a scavenger hunt in the
environment.
The PBC habitat provides an outside classroom
for the students who during warmer months are
taught valuable earth science and other lessons.
During winter, the grounds and nature trail are
used for snowshoeing and animal tracking during
physical education courses.
