Lots of
spaghetti and meatballs went into the $1,011 that was
presented to the father an ill RCS Middle School teacher
on Saturday.
The funds
were raised last month by a team of volunteers who supported RCS
Middle School student Adam McCoy and his efforts to raise funds
for teacher Colin Poole, who is battling a rare form of cancer.
Additional funds were raised through bake sales and other events
Adam coordinated.
During the
March 29 Pasta for Poole fundraiser in the Ravena Knights of
Columbus Hall, dozens of community members turned out to
purchase dinners in support of the ill 28-year-old foreign
language teacher who lives in Colonie.
McCoy, who
had Poole as a teacher for only a few weeks before Poole fell
ill, planned and coordinated the entire event.
While the young student had
planned to present the check to his teacher, Poole is still in
New York City receiving treatment and will not be able to return
to the region co collect the donation. Instead, his father
attended the Bethlehem Grange's monthly dinner on Saturday where
McCoy presented the donation.
