RCS website drew a record number of
visitors during March, district officials announced this
week.
The website -
www.rcscsd.org - drew
6,973 unique visitors during the month of March, surpassing
the previous record set last year by 750 visitors.
The website’s stats were released
Friday by Capital Region BOCES, which hosts the site.
Unique Visitors - individuals who visited your site during the
report period (If someone visits more than once, they are
counted only the first time they visit) – is typically
considered the most appropriate way to gauge website traffic.
“This underscores the spirit of
accessibility we strive towards on a consistent basis," said
Superintendent Vicki Wright. “From work and home, our residents
know they are able to turn our website for the latest
information on the school district."
Mondays are
the active day for the website and 10 to 11 a.m. the busiest
hour on the site each day, reported
Communications Coordinator Michael
McCagg.
While clearly the
website was most popular within the Capital Region, it did
attract visitors from elsewhere around the globe, including
Central America, Eastern Europe and the even the Pacific
Islands.
The website is home to news,
schedules, cafeteria menus, pictures and other information on
the Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk Central School District.
RCS Today
– the district’s weekly email newsletter - continues to be a top
draw to the site, with recipients “clicking” through to stories
after reading the e-mail news.
The district website routinely
draws more than 6,000 unique visitors a month, which is a marked
increase from just three years ago when 1,500 unique visitors
was considered a busy month, McCagg said.
