Greenhouse
plans flower at RCS
The
long-discussed greenhouse for RCS High School has
finally advanced beyond the bud stage and may soon
flower into reality.
The Board of
Education on Monday approved a $47,536 general
construction contract for the creation of the facility.
The contract was awarded to Hoosick Valley Contractors,
which submitted the lowest bid for the work.
The greenhouse, Grades 11/12 Principal Hakim Jones has
said, will provide a great hands-on experience for
science students and fit perfectly into environmental
and other science courses.
Science Curriculum Content Specialist Stephanie Branley
has pursued numerous grants and donations from
businesses such as SABIC to cover some of the other
costs associated with the construction and start-up of
the greenhouse.
