Bus vote to take
place
on Tuesday
District residents will
head to the polls on Tuesday to consider the purchase of
four buses.
The sole proposition on
the ballot would authorize the district’s expenditure of
$403,427 to purchase the buses that would replace
vehicles that are 12 and 13 years old and less fuel
efficient, said Transportation Director Janice Prior.
The purchase continues the
district’s effort to maintain not only a safe fleet, but
replace the buses on a routine basis as opposed to
making a more costly one-time purchase that could result
in a spike in the district’s tax levy.
The bus proposition
typically appears on the same ballot as the budget.
However as a result of a delay in securing cost
estimates from the manufacturers, RCS could not meet the
legal 45-day requirement for advertising the proposition
