Humvee, helicopter and more highlighted field day

Friday's field day at A.W. Becker Elementary School combined fun and education.

Students took part in the traditional field day activities - three-legged race, sack race, soak machine, face painting and a jump rope race, to name a few - as well as the non-traditional. The latter activities included touring fire and EMS trucks and ambulances along with an Albany Med Flight helicopter. A humvee from the National Guard was also on display.

The idea, Parent Teacher Association organizers said, was to let the students have fun, while also providing an education opportunity.
