Dear
Staff, Students and Community,
The Board of Education is
pleased to announce that Dr. Michael Johnson has agreed
to serve the district as its Interim Superintendent
effective July 1, 2008. He will be appointed at the
June 2, 2008 Board of Education meeting. Dr. Johnson
comes to us with 32 years of experience. During his
career, he has served in many capacities including that
of elementary and middle school principal, high school
assistant principal, counselor, teacher, assistant
superintendent and superintendent. He is a proven leader
who shows respect for others and keeps the needs of
children first. Due to his knowledge and commitment to
improving educational standards and, therefore,
increasing student performance, he is a good choice to
continue the progress the District has made in moving
forward with educational initiatives and programs
already in place.
Dr.
Johnson also brings with him a solid financial
background and negotiations skills which will be a
tremendous help in moving our Corrective Action Plans
along. The Board of Education believes that he is a
strong, effective leader who is professional,
knowledgeable and articulate. The BOE feels he is a
good choice to continue to move the district in a
forward direction.
Dr. Johnson will be
available during the month of June to meet with the
various stakeholder groups, and there will be a schedule
forthcoming from Dr. Albano.
Sincerely,
Mike Varney
President – Board of
Education
