LaFarge
material review underway
Environmental experts at C.T. Male and
Associates are currently determining
whether emissions reports and other
materials provided by LaFarge Cement
should be reviewed by C.T. Male or
another firm.
Board member John Vadney and Facilities
Director Eugene Doane reported at
Monday's meeting that C.T. Male's Mike
Sawyer "is reviewing the materials
provided to determine if they can handle
the review or another firm that
specializes in the area is needed.
"'In my opinion, we really need to move
forward and have somebody look at it,"
said Doane.
Upon the request of district officials
and the Board of Education, LaFarge is
providing "stacks" of material on
mercury emissions from the plant, which
is located directly across state Route
9W from the middle and high school
campus.
