Two high school
musicians took center stage this weekend at the
crown jewel of the Berkshires, Tanglewood.
RCS students
Amy Selkirk (oboe) and Graham Bastian (tuba)
performed with the Empire State Repertory Orchestra
in a concert Sunday at the Ozawa Hall at Tanglewood
Music Center in Lenox, MA.
Playing under the direction of conductor David Beck,
the orchestra performed
“Toccata” by Girolamo Frescobaldi, “Norwegian
Dances” by Edvard Grieg, and two movements from “The
Firebird Suite” by Igor Stravinsky, said RCS Music
Teacher William Baxter.
Selkirk
was oboe soloist in one of the Norwegian Dances, he
said.
Selkirk and Bastian are both sophomores.
