Sixth grade orientation draws crowd
Incoming sixth grade
students and their parents packed the Middle School
on Tuesday to prepare for the start of the upcoming
school year.
More than 100 students
and their parents took part in the morning
orientation session, where they received their
schedules, toured the school and asked questions of
guidance counselors, as well as principals Pam Black
and Liz Santa Barbara.
Parents were reminded of
dress codes, what items are appropriate for school
(hint: no Nintendo PS2s and no cell phones) and
given instruction on how they drop-off and pickup
their students - if they wish.
Guidance counselors
joined teachers in creating a scavenger hunt for
students to locate area and items in the building as
a means of getting the students to know their new
school.
"It was a very
successful morning. The students seemed generally
excited," said Assistant Superintendent for
Instruction Dr. Diane Albano.
