RCS appoints principal to
new Human Resources post
A several month search for
the right person to fill the newly created Human Resources
Administrator post ended this month with the appointment of
High School Grades 9/10 Principal Greg Chase to the
administrative post.
Mr. Chase started this week
in the new position which entails overseeing all of the
district’s approximately 500 full- and part-time faculty,
staff and personnel and managing the contracts with their
unions.
“I look forward to being
responsible to all of the needs of the entire RCS community
and addressing the challenges that face the district as we
look to consolidate human resources activities to one
office,” Mr. Chase said.
Those functions had
previously been handled by a multitude of people in the
district which led to difficulties. The creation of the
human resources position was part of the 2007-08 budget
approved by voters in May.
Mr. Chase has a long and
storied career at RCS that has seen him fill numerous
positions. Since joining RCS in 1986 following a period of
work in a Greene County school, Mr. Chase has served a
guidance counselor, high school principal, grades 9/10
principal, guidance supervisor, student services supervisor,
board of education clerk, interim board president, and
committee on special education chairman.
“Greg brings to this
position all the skills he has acquired throughout his
tenure in the district. He has quite a job to accomplish
and quite the learning curve to climb, but I know that with
the support of the entire school community, he will develop,
implement and maintain a quality Human Resources department
that will address several areas and consolidate all the
components that are part of the HR function,” said
Superintendent Vicki Wright.
The Board of Education is
expected to appoint an interim Grades 9/10 Principal at an
upcoming meeting.
