Superintendent Vicki Wright reported to the Board of Education on Monday that the opening of the school year went extremely smoothly.
She reported no unexpected problems in any of the buildings or with transportation and she praised the work of faculty, staff and parents for the opening day success in all buildings. She additionally thanked the administrators, faculty, staff and parents at Pieter B. Coeymans for their work in launching the new Opening Day celebration.
It was an awesome pulling together of the school building and greater school community, Wright said.
The opening day enrollment for the district was 2,299 students, with the high school enrollment leading the pack at 701 students. The breakdown for the other schools is as follows:
-
Pieter B. Coeymans 513 students
-

The remaining 69 students are in BOCES/private school programs.
