Elementary students turn to tunes to learn with the assistance of WGNA radio personality
More than 20 A.W. Becker and Pieter B. Coeymans elementary school students crafted their own song Wednesday with the assistance of popular WGNA morning radio show host Richie Phillips.
Phillips visited the A.W. Becker school and met with students in the Young Scholar's program. With his assistance, the student created the musical piece "Pollution's Greatest Hits."
The students worked with Phillips to create a new song about the environment that Phillips then played on the “Sean and Richie” morning show on the country station, 107.7 on Thursday.
The environment is the theme of the scholars program this year.

The project is part of a unit on the radio industry and besides helping the students craft and record a song. Phillips will discuss the industry and the “ins” and “outs” of a career in it.
