The former myNutrikids program used by RCS for paying for your child's meals from the comfort of your home in advance has now changed to mySchoolBucks.com. The program offers the same secure online service that lets you pre-pay for meals online using a credit card, debit card or checking account (Paypal no longer accepted).
mySchoolBucks.com allows you the convenience of
adding funds to your child's meal account, scheduling automatic payments,
opting to receive an electronic “low funds” reminder message and viewing a
monthly report of your child's daily spending and purchases.
The Nutrition Outreach and Education Program (NOEP) can provide a free and confidential pre-screening for food stamps, and assist you through the application process. Contact Daniel Denton, NOEP Coordinator, at (518) 943-1462 for more information.
Before you eat, think about what goes on your plate or in your cup or bowl. Foods like vegetables, fruits, whole grains, low-fat dairy products, and lean protein foods contain the nutrients you need without too many calories. Find more tips on cutting back on foods high in solid fats, sugars and salt, eating the right amount of calories for your body, being physically active, and more by downloading the "Let's eat for the health of it" brochure [PDF] put out by the U.S. Departments of Agriculture and Health and Human Services.
Did you know that you can cater a birthday celebration at school from The RCS Food Service? That’s right – cupcakes, muffins, cookies, juice pops and pizza – are all available at a reasonable price. Give us a try, save time AND give back to your school … now that’s a deal! DOWNLOAD BROCHURE TO LEARN MORE [PDF]
A hungry child cannot learn. Our breakfast program offers all children a critical jump start at the beginning of their school day. Children who aren’t hungry feel better, learn better, and behave better. Studies have found that students who eat breakfast have a general increase in math grades and reading scores, increased student attention, reduced nurse visits, and improved student behaviors.
RCS participates in the National School Lunch Program providing nutritious meals for students free or at a reduced price of 25 cents. An application package is mailed home to all parents in late August.
