(May 19, 2011) RCS High School senior Christine Spindler has been named to
the 2011 Scholars’ Recognition Program. Spindler and the teacher she
nominated, Matt Miller, were recognized at the 25th annual Scholars'
Recognition Program Dinner last week. They were also featured in the Albany
Times Union newspapers 2011 Scholars' Recognition May 12th special
supplement.
The Scholars’ Recognition Program honors the outstanding scholastic
achievement of member of the graduating classes of public, private and
parochial schools in the Capital District area. Each high school selects
these students to recognize their scholarship, leadership and service to
their schools and communities. Each student is asked to nominate a teacher
who has influenced his or her life in a significant way.
Having been selected by five RCS scholars over the years, Mr. Miller was
given an Achievement Award at the dinner.
Named Valedictorian, Spindler has taken honors, University in High School
and AP courses. She serves as co-President of the National Honor Society and
participates in Art, Spanish and Writing Clubs as well as plays on the
Varsity Volleyball team that made two trips to the NYS Championships.
