Calculus Takes to the Stage

(May 23, 2012) Calculus: the Musical visited RCS High School on Monday, May 21. Mrs. Maureen Perrotte, Curriculum Content Specialist for Mathematics 9-12 and calculus teacher, is responsible for bringing the musical to RCS. Students from Catskill, Rensselaer, New Lebanon, Voorheesville, East Greenbush and Germantown school districts also attended the performance.

Calculus: the Musical is a comic review of the concepts and history of calculus. It is a wonderful teaching tool, in which mathematical formulas and rules are set to music help students learn and retain information as comedy, lecture and theatre combine into an engaging  performance.

It was exciting to see so many students learning about the rate of change through the tunes of the Beatles, Petula Clark and Eminem.
What an exciting way to learn mathematics!
