Dear Third Grade Family,

We had a wonderful time at our family picnic yesterday.  I would like to thank those family members who were able to join us.  It was so nice to visit with each of you.

Our class was very busy doing end-of-the-year activities, returning borrowed supplies, and cleaning our classroom this week.  The students completed a reading interview and personal time capsule sheet like they did in the fall.  Then they had fun comparing their answers to see how they have changed throughout the school year.  The students also celebrated their published short stories today.  They cleaned out their portfolios so they can be sent to their fourth grade teachers.  The students had a lot of fun looking through and choosing their published pieces from Writing Workshop, as well as their Science and Math tests.  Next, they cleaned out their desks and helped set up the classroom for next year.  Finally, they received their awards which were announced at our picnic and signed each other’s yearbooks.

I am sending home report cards today.  In the report card envelope you will also find a packet of activities to keep your child’s summer fun and educational, as well as other helpful information such as the fourth grade supply list and a suggested summer reading list.

I would like to thank those of you who returned my yellow teacher survey.  I will take your comments seriously to make next year even better!

Finally, I would like to thank all of you for making this year such a successful one for everyone.  I greatly appreciated your academic and emotional support throughout the year to make my third grade program the best that it could possibly be.  Please be sure to encourage your child to continue reading, writing, and learning during the summer whenever possible to ensure his or her success in fourth grade.

I hope you and your family have a wonderful summer.

                                                                             Sincerely,

                                                                             Glenn Koblenzer
