The Congressional Medal of Honor is the highest military citation awarded by the United States. Is it given to a member of the United States armed forces who distinguishes himself or herself "conspicuously by gallantry and intrepidity at the risk of his [or her] life above and beyond the call of duty while engaged in an action against an enemy of the United States." In the entire state of New York, there is just one surviving Medal of Honor recipient from World War II -- Francis Currey. Currey, 84, visited A.W. Becker Elementary School on June 10 for the school's annual Flag Day assembly.
 


Hudson Valley Community College to offer basic computer course at RCS in September

This course provides both a practical and conceptual background in microcomputer fundamentals. Students receive hands-on experience while learning the latest graphical interface technology and how it interacts with word processing, spreadsheets, database management, presentation graphics and the Internet.

This July, RCS Art and Photography teacher Paula Vatalaro is enrolled in an intensive Artists’ Retreat at Wiawaka Holiday House. Wiawaka was named with this Abenaki word meaning, “ The Spirit of the Creator in Women”. The retreat, provided through the Greater Capital Region Teaching Center for Excellence, will be held at the internationally known Camp Wiawaka in Lake George, NY.
