PBC students collect 900 food items, raise more than $1100 for local food banks

The students of PBC collected about 900 items of food for the food pantry at St. Patrick's Church in Ravena. They then collected money at Crossgates Mall on Tuesday, Dec. 22, for the Regional Food Bank of NENY. For every dollar collected, the food bank will be able to purchase $10-12 worth of food.

 RCS high school band and chorus perform for large crowd at Empire State Plaza

The RCS high school band and chorus performed for a large crowd at Empire State Plaza this afternoon. In addition to family member, many of the onlookers were RCS graduates themselves, home from college for the holidays.

New elementary schedule starts January 4

Under the terms of the agreement, students will arrive at A.W. Becker and Pieter B. Coeymans elementary schools at 8:45 a.m. starting January 4, 2010, which is 15 minutes earlier than the current start time. Also, students at the two elementary schools will be released on Fridays at 3:15 p.m. instead of at the current 3:00 p.m. teacher release time.

RCS Continuing Education department offers new classes in Jan. and Feb.

Classes include the return of popular yoga instructor Kathleen Fisk; volleyball; basketball; indoor soccer; parent-tot swim; water aerobics; hip hop aerobics; and free-style fitness.

RCS 8th graders study classic forms of poetry, then write their own poems

For the past few weeks, my 8th graders have been immersed in poetry. We've read them, listened to them, analyzed them and learned about the traditional forms (haiku, epic, elegy, cinquain, sonnet, free verse and ballad).

RCS middle school students learn about Puerto Rican culture and salsa dancing

On Friday, December 18th, Señor Silberman’s seventh and eighth grade classes had an opportunity to learn about life in Puerto Rico and dance the Salsa.
