A "major" fundraiser for beloved ill RCS Middle School Teacher Colin Poole  will  take place Friday at RCS High School.


Diver's make a  splash

A pair of RCS Boys Swim Team members are making a splash in the world of competitive swimming as a result of their diving head first into diving competitions with little advanced training.

The Board of Education on Monday selected Joseph Pizzo as the district’s new treasurer.


Hearthside cooking cooks-up a colonial days lesson

Fourth grade students from Pieter B. Coeymans Elementary School are learning how to cook without the “modern” tools of microwave ovens or even stoves.


Second `town hall' style night draws crowd, recommendations

Superintendent Vicki Wright and members of the Board of Education conducted the second "town hall" style meeting Thursday in Selkirk as a crowd of approximately 20 district residents asked questions about the status of the district

Banking' on an education at RCS

Learning the value of savings is a lesson that never gets old. In fact, given the startling statistics showing Americans are saving less than they have since the Great Depression, teaching young students the importance of putting money away is as vital a lesson as ever.

A program designed to fill play time with constructive activities that boost physical fitness is launching next week at the A.W. Becker Elementary School.


RCS looks to formalize response to intervention

In a wide-ranging report to the Board of Education last week, Committee on Special Education Chairperson Elaine Dykeman also said she plans to submit for their consideration a proposed policy on the district's assistance to struggling students.
