New interim business administrator appointed

The Board of Education appointed on Monday a 40-year veteran of the education system to serve as interim business administrator.


Senior symposium designed to offer lessons not typically found in school

A morning-long event at RCS on March 26 is designed to provide the type of education to high school seniors that they have not been able to find in text books and classrooms during their previous 13 years of schooling.


BOE schedules budget meetings

The Board of Education will meet each of the next two weeks as the draft 2008-09 budget is placed under the microscope.


Driver shortage forces RCS to shift gears

After taking the fast lane for the past few years to handling nearly all transportation needs in house, those efforts have hit a bump pin the road as a result of the severe driver shortage.

Math 6-8 assessments delayed

The New York State Mathematics Assessments for grades 6, 7 and 8 will be given on March 11th  and March 12th.  This is a change from the original dates of March 6th and 7th.


High school to host blood drive today

The High School Student Government Organization will host a blood drive on Thursday.

Two longtime faculty members who are retiring at the end of the school year were honored by the Board of Education on Monday.

The RCS Continuing Education Program is offering a SAT preparatory course just in time for those taking the assessment this spring.


Pre-k to serve all who
met application deadline

Every applicant who met the Feb. 15 for applying to the RCS pre-kindergarten program for the coming school year will be placed in the program.


The RCS school district is in contact with air quality and safety representatives following a newspaper report on Thursday that a significant amount of mercury has been released into the air from the LaFarge Cement Plant.


The Middle School French club will be delivering this eek chocolate bunnies to residents who ordered them.

Elementary school students and faculty at RCS donned their war pajamas when heading to school on Monday as they took part in a celebration of reading and Dr. Seuss.
